A new era in the manufacture of sports items began in 1949 when Kihachiro Onitsuka created Onitsuka Co. Ltd. Troubled by the plight of all the homeless children after the Second World War, he asked himself the following question: What can I do to give them a better future? His love of sport led him to the right answer — sport would be the best starting point for realising this goal. Asics was born. Offering a large range of sports shoes, clothes and equipment, the company continued to develop. Today, Asics is the fifth largest sports shoe brand in the world, with numerous branches operating globally.
