The first Aster shoe—the famous Dingo—was born at Saint-Astier, in the very heart of the French region of Périgord. Its creator, Sicaire Georges, built up and developed his shoe factory over the years. Now, almost a century later, the brand is a market leader in footwear for babies and infants in France. Originally l'asterien, now Aster, the brand name is a nod to the company's geographic roots in Saint-Astier. The Aster flower was also chosen as the company logo. Aster focused its research on the infant shoe market and launched a groundbreaking new concept, the Alpha. One million pairs were sold in the space of 10 years between 1983 and 1993. Then came the launch of the Astri with its revolutionary "anti-twist" design. The shoe boasts three technological features, protecting the foot from twisting, vibration and shock.
