The concept of Heelys was born in 1999 in Huntington Beach, California by Roger Adams. He began his career as a psychologist, and no one would have guessed that he would change career paths and become an inventor! It was when seeing children roller skate and skateboard that he came up with a great idea: A shoe that can become a roller skate in one simple movement. It is after cutting out parts of the heels and adding a wheel from a skateboard that Heelys shoes were born. These shoes were a big hit, with 14 million pairs sold since they arrived on the market. Heelys are the two-in-one shoe that lets you take life at your own pace. With the wheels out, the stylish designs perform and look just like any other shoe. When you easily put the wheels in, you roll at a different speed. Heelys are about exploring your freedom, unleashing the fun and empowering you to be fearless.
